Esther
White was born in the Township of Charlotteville on the 18th day of
May 1825, and died in Chicago on the 25th day of March 1899. She was
the oldest child of the late John and Anna Bryning.
The
major part of her life was spent in the Township of her birth. A few
years however were spent with her aunt Mrs. Wm. McMichael near
Boston in the Township of Townsend.
She
spent a few years teaching school, first at Townsend Centre and
secondly in the in the Township of Charlotteville.
When
16 years old she by faith laid hold of Christ as her Saviour. She
was baptized by Elder McDormand and united with the Forestville
Baptist church where she remained a member until death.
In
the year 1853 she was married to Calvin White of Forestville. There she
settled and lived until a few ago [sic] her husband died and
she was left a widow.
Two
children were born to her, one a girl and a boy. The boy who now
lives in Chicago is the only one of the family left.
Mrs.
White was buried in the family plot in the Forestville cemetery to
await the resurrection at the last day.
