Mrs. Rachel Brownlee

At Port Ryerse in the early morning of June 27 there passed away a good woman in the person of Mrs. Brownlee, wife of the late Edward Brownlee, in the 77th year of her age. Many years ago she and her husband became residents of Port Ryerse, wher the most of her active life was spent.

Of many bright traits possessed by her, firmness and determination shone prominently. Perhaps, though, the controlling influence of her life was a spirit of helpfulness and a strong desire to minister to the happiness of others.

She had few equals in this respect, for where there was sickness or death there she was to be found night or day whenever called upon, or when she thought her services would be of assistance to those in trouble. Many there are who will cherish kind remembrance of her in this respect.

At the time of her passing away and for many years previous she was a member of Vittoria Baptist Church.

Not only will she be deeply mourned by the close relatives who survive her, but her loss will be keenly felt by the many friends with who she associated.

On June 29, a most beautiful day, loving friends laid her remains beside those of her husband in the cemetery of the Methodist Church at Woodhouse.
