The Late Mrs. Henry Brown
(Port Rowan News)

Mrs. Henry Brown died at her residence on the Front Road near Port Royal on Wednesday afternoon. Three weeks ago she had a stroke of paralysis from which she never rallied. Her funeral will leave her late residence on Friday at 1 o'clock for Bay View cemetery, where her remains will be laid beside those of her husband, who died six years ago last March.

Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late James Dowswell, Esq., a worthy Englishman who lived for many years at Pt. Burwell and afterwards moved to Glenshee, where he died.

During her young womanhood she was a school teacher, and was a graduate of Dr. [Sangster]'s Normal School and the holder of a first-class certificate. From the school room she went to her new home on the second concession.

Twenty-four years ago she moved with her family to their present home. Her sons are James and Frank, who live at home, and her daughters are Mrs. Jennie Marr and Miss Erie Brown, at home. Her brothers are James Dowswell of Glenshee and John Dowswell, Lynedoch, and her sisters Mrs. Albert Collins and Mrs. Irving Collins of Simcoe, Mrs. Schyler of Townsend and Mrs. J. C. Woodward of St. George.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Pt. Rowan Baptist church, a woman of character helpful and useful in the community in which she lived. She had many friends and notwithstanding her age and her infirmities she will be greatly missed in the community in which she spent her long life.
