Married at Delhi Fifty-Five Years Ago

The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Brown of Brown's Corners was the scene of a very pleasant event on Saturday, January 7, when Mr. and Mrs. Brown observed the 55th anniversary of their marriage.

Mr. Brown who is now in his 79th year, is the son of the late Stephen and Caroline Brown and is of English descent. The only [other] surviving member of the family is his sister, Mrs. Mary [Deverell] of Edmonton, Alta., who is now in this district on a visit. She is in her 82nd year.

Now at the age of 74, Mrs. Brown was one of a family of ten children of the late James and Harriett Derrickson of which two other daughters still survive, Mrs. Harriett Brown of Oakland, Ont., and Mrs. Martha McDonald of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown were married at Delhi on January 2, 1877 and raised a family of six [sic] children. Harry made the supreme suffice during the Great War while two daughters died at a very early age. The children are:
George W. Brown, St. Thomas
Mrs. H. R. Sitgreaves, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Fred A. Brown, St. Williams
Mrs. H. E. Mansfield, Woodhouse
Mrs. Clarence Cupples, Tillsonburg, and
Mrs. C. E. Smith, Walsh.

For more than 50 years the couple have [sic] lived in their present home. Both are today enjoying fairly good health and took much pleasure out of the family gathering held on Saturday in their honor.
