OBITUARY
The Late Wellington Bates

The friends of Mr. Wellington Bates will regret to hear of his death, which occured at his home near Old Windham on Oct. 24. 

Mr. Bates was born in the township of Townsend in the year 1850. 

In 1875 he was united in marriage to Mary Ferman and settled on a farm near Jericho, Norfolk County. 

He moved upon the farm near Old Windham about a year ago, and in that short time he made many friends. Deceased was highly respected by all who knew him. In politics he was a staunch Reformer. 

He leaves to mourn his demise a wife and seven sons, Elgin, of Hamilton, John and Lee of Windsor, Ernest of Brantford, Wyatt of Port Arthur, Herbert of Springvale, and Abram who lives at home; also three brothers, Ben of London, Ont., George of Welland, and Louis of Callder, and two sisters, Mrs. J. Pattterson, Detroit, and Mrs. A. Nicholas, Lockport, N.Y. 

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Shepperman of Old Windham Methodist Church. The six sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.
