One of
Woodhouse's best known residents, Philip Judson Austin, passed away
early this morning at his home east of Wiggins' School. He was in his
82nd year.
Born in Woodhouse, the late Mr. Austin spent his entire life on the
farm on which he was born. He was a son of the late Isaac Austin and
Marjorie Waddle and during his lifetime followed the occupation of a
farmer. He was an ardent supporter of the United Church and at the
time of his death was an elder at Mt. Zion United Church.
In 1884 he married the former Dorcas Henning and four years ago
they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Besides his wife he
is survived by two sons and two daughters, Robert A. and Harry E.
Austin of Woodhouse, Miss Prudence Austin, B.A., of Port Arthur and
Mrs. Roy Hammond of Port Dover. Also surviving are three sisters Miss
Isabel Austin at home, and Mrs. (Rev.) Wray Smith of Brantford and
Mrs. (Rev.) J. H. L. Joslin of Winnipeg. A son, William Judson Austin,
B.S.A., died in Kelowna, B.C. in 1920.
The funeral will be held from his late residence on Wednesday
afternoon at two o'clock with interment in Oakwood cemetery.
