A lightly edited transcript of the Rockford column on page 2 of the 3 May 1917 Simcoe Reformer.

Rockford

Although Rockford is a very small place, with only a few stray houses, it has done its bit in the time of need, for it have given not less than seven men for honor's sake...

Three have gone from one home, and I am sure that Simcoe and surrounding districts will feel and sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Wilson in their sorrow, for they have received official word that their son John, who enlisted with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, is missing since 25 Mar 1917.

Hugh, who went with the 133rd Battalion is also wounded and in a hospital.

Wilfred who has made a name for himself by taking his life in his hands and going out to face death to save his comrades, has won two medals, and is now in hospital recovering from shell shock.

Joe, their last brother, is also suffering from gas poisoning...
