The
following is from a page 1 article in the 28 Mar 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.
CAPTAIN
"JACK" SLAGHT
Son of Mr. Charles Slaght of
Charlotteville. The sad news that Captain Slaght had been killed
in action was received by his father last week.
The dead soldier enlisted with a
Western Battalion, but he was a Norfolk boy by birth. The family
resided near Glen Meyer prior to coming to Charlotteville.

We extend our deepest
sympathy to the relatives
of Capt. Jack Slaght, who was killed in action
15 Mar 1918. He spent his boyhood in this place
and was a general favorite.

The
following is from the South Middleton column on page 11 of the
28 Mar 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Slaght
and family of Atherton
have the sympathy of their many friends in the loss
of their son, Captain John Slaght, who was killed in action in
France, 15 Mar 1915. Capt. Slaght was well known to the younger
people of this place.
