The following is from a page 1 article in the 28 Aug 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Luscombe sons serve

Sergeant Charles Luscombe and Private Earl Luscombe.

These two fine young soldiers were born and raised 
in Simcoe. They are sons of the late James Luscombe, 
and nephews of ex-Mayor George H. Luscombe. 
Their mother is now Mrs. John Sharpe [sic] of Simcoe.

Earl enlisted in the [125th] Battalion at Brantford, where he resided. After 22 months at the front, 
he was on 13 Aug wounded in the legs. 
He is married.

Charles has lived for 13 years in the United States. 
He passed through Ontario for the front a few days 
ago, with his unit, a California Battalion.

 

 

 

 

[Compiler's Comments: Neither brother is listed as a survivor in 
their uncle George Luscombe's 1937 obituary. 
Their mother, Mrs. Rosetta Luscombe, married John Sharp.
