Mary Anderson of New York is with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace

Mrs. E.
Boughner and her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Sutton, were in Buffalo one
day last week.
Miss
Gladys Butler and Miss Bessie Doughty of Detroit are spending the
week with her parents in town.
Mr.
and Mrs. A. W. Bacon of Detroit are visiting Mr. and Mrs. F. Jarvis
on their return trip from the Eastern States.
Will
Peachey, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Peachey, is going overseas next
week with a Calgary unit. His parents will go to Ottawa to bid him
good-bye.
Major Boyd
of Camp Borden made a flying trip home Tuesday evening to see his
young son, who was taken seriously ill. The youngster is quite
recovered.
The
engagement is announced of Miss Maude Barber of Cherry Valley, to
Dr. E. M. Brundage, of Bienfait, Sask., the marriage to take place
the last of September.
Mr.
and Mrs. A. T. Cowley are moving this week to Port Dover. Mr. Cowley
enlisted with the 133rd. but has since been discharged.
Mrs.
Geo. W. Hiam and son have returned to their home in Chicago after
spending the past two weeks with her sister, Mrs. J. W. Young.
Miss
Bernice Sutton, who has spent the summer months with her sister,
Mrs. Harry Pursel, returned on Tuesday to her home in Camp Point,
Ill.
Mrs. Knight and
her two small sons, who have been with Mr. and Mrs. John Sutton most
of the summer, have returned to their home in Walton, N.Y.
Mr.
George Smith of Ingersoll, brother-in-law of Mr. Jeff Pritchard,
died last week after a painful illness of two years' duration. Mr.
Pritchard attended the funeral.
Mr.
and Mrs. Alfred Beckon of Saginaw, Mich., have been visiting Mr.
Wesley Beckon. Mr. Alfred Beckon was a former resident of this
vicinity, but he has not been here for thirteen years.
Mr.
John Black of Montreal was the guest of Simcoe relatives over the
week-end. "Jack's" many friends here were relieved to see
that the wear and tear of a busy life has not told too heavily upon
him as yet.
Mrs.
Ernest Carr and two daughter, Gladys and Madge, leave today for
their home in Moose Jaw, after two months spent with Mrs. Carr's
sister, Mrs. Basil Clement, West Street, and with other relatives in
the vicinity.
Mr. and
Mrs. L. H. Richardson of Midland, Mich., and Mrs. W. M. Richardson
of Pasadena, Cal., have been visiting Mrs. J. R. Butler and other
relatives. Mr. Richardson and two brothers served through the
American civil war. They were born near Port Dover and this is the
first visit he has made to his native country in 40 years.
