Leslie Scram, a youth of twelve, is in jail here, charged with stealing a bicycle. 

Corporal James Adams, formerly of the Bank of Commerce, Simcoe, enlisted early in 1915, going to England, has been promoted to second lieutenant.

Miss Ethel Layton of Port Dover married Joseph Klinkhammer of Brantford this morning in Simcoe. Miss Agnes Mayne of Toronto attended. Wm. Hennessey of Simcoe was groomsman. They will reside in Brantford.

Private Arthur Coombs, son of Colonel and Mrs. Coombs, sailed for home 17 Nov 1916. He was wounded some months ago. He enlisted in the West, getting past the medical examiners even though he is deaf. His younger brother, Lieutenant Harry Coombs is on active service and has also been wounded.

James W. Hagan, a member of the Simcoe High School staff, has been appointed to the inspectorate of Manitoulin Island. During the last 15 years no less than five Simcoe High teachers have become inspectors: R. A. Hutchinson, James Power, R. A. Patterson and R. Galbraith. Mr. Liddy of Port Dover High School also became an Inspector some years since.

A 10 year veteran of the 39th Regiment of Norfolk County has been wounded. Born in Otterville, Private J. A. Burch, 32, of the 91st Elgin Battalion is single and resided with his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Burch,on William Street in St. Thomas before enlisting, 27 Nov 1915.

On Monday, for the first time since automobiles came into general use, Detroit streets were not blocked and congested with machines standing along the curbs downtown. A new order from the police commissions prohibits automobiles from standing anywhere within half a mile of city hall. Its workings were a revelation to citizens.

Majstrates J. L. Earl and T. R. Nelles sentenced a young named Cook to an intermediate sentence at Mimico Industrial School after he was charged by R. G. Gunton with stealing a bicycle.
