Villa
Nova
Though not
unexpected, deep regret was felt throughout the neighborhood, when news
cam last week of the death of Mrs. Jacobson of Buffalo, formerly Miss
Clara Trotter of this place.
The
funeral services of Mr. Joseph Wilcox were held in the Baptist church
last Friday. Mr. Wilcox was a respected resident of Villa Nova for about
half a century but for about the last three years he has lived with his
daughter, Mrs. G. Renner of Hartford, at whose home he passed away.

It
is our painful duty this week to chronicle the death of Mary, beloved
wife of Thomas Garnett, at the age of 35 years and 6 month, which sad
event took place on Thursday night last.
Deceased
had only lived in this place some eight months and being of a loving and
cheerful disposition, had won the love of all and was very highly
esteemed in this place.
The
funeral took place on Sunday at eleven o'clock to Mount Pleasant
Cemetery and was followed by a very large number of friends.
The
casket was covered with flowers given by loving friends, showing their
last respect.
Deceased was
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Guest of Mount Pleasant, who, with the
lonely husband, have the deepest sympathy of this community.

It
is with regret that we report the death of a friend in the person of
Mrs. Mary Charters Lewis, the wife of Mr. Ben Lewis, which took place in
Brantford on Thursday last of typhoid fever.
The
deceased was the youngest daughter of Mr. David Charters of this place
and had the love and respect of all who knew her.
A
service was held at her home on Saturday by Rev. T. R. Treleaven, after
which her remains were brought to her old home, and on Sunday another
service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Down of Rockford.
The
interment took place in the Anderson burying ground, her brothers and
cousins being pallbearers.
Brantford
friends kindly covered the casket with flowers, among them being a
beautiful anchor from Mr. and Mrs. Mann, and bouquets from her brother
David Charters, Mrs. Miles, Mrs. Charlton, Mrs. G. Watt, Mrs. J. Cox,
Mrs. Tanner and Miss Brown.
