Mr. C. A. Johnson, the
celebrated astronomer, delivered his well-known lecture on "The
origin of the planets," in Beemer's rink on Friday night.
There were about two
hundred people present and Mayor Tisdale occupied the chair.
The
lecturer who is a good speaker, said in the course of his lecture that
the people of this earth would be going to Mars in air ships within ten
years, also that the people of Mars were twenty-five feet tall.
The
proceeds of the lecture go to the educational benefits of the negros.
Mr.
Granderson was presented with a gold watch for his services as conductor
of the lectures held here.
