Rescued from Drowning

Whilst some boys were skating on the mill-pond on Tuesday, one of them, a son of Mr. John Owen, fell through into the deep water, and must have been drowned, had not Charles Barber, a playmate, at the risk of his own life, ran with a stick to the edge of the broken ice, and helped him out. This noble act of young Master Barber was all the more praiseworthy insomuch as several older boys were too timid to render assistance.
