What's Where?
by John Cardiff

Norfolk's Premiere Genealogy Archive is located at the Norfolk Historical Society's Norfolk Heritage Centre at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe. With a few exceptions, if its not there, you face a much bigger challenge. Visit their website: norfolklore.com

Norfolk County Land Records are at Spruce Row Museum in Waterford, Norfolk County. Call ahead to ensure the Museum is open and that the Land Records are accessible: (519) 443-4211

Cemetery stone transcriptions are the speciality of the Norfolk Branch of the Ontario Genealogy Society. Their genealogy collections are housed in the secure History Room, at the Public Library, 40 Colborne Street South in Simcoe. (They may be examined, not removed.) Visit their web site for more info.

There are other Museums in Port Dover, Teeterville, Tillsonburg (Oxford County) and Cayuga (Haldimand County) that may be of interest. The largest cemeteries are Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe, and Greenwood Cemetery in Waterford, but there are more than 100 smaller cemeteries scattered across Norfolk County.
