Volunteers at the Norfolk
Historical Society have photocopied and indexed Norfolk Vital Stats from microfilm. For $5 per page they will
snail mail you a photocopy of any specific Birth, Marriage or Death record in
their Vital Stats library.
These are copies of the original handwritten ledgers, the registrations forwarded to the Ontario government to become the official provincial record. Typically, each page provides three or six such events (three births, for example). Birth registrations include the child's name, gender, date of birth, mother's maiden name, father's name and occupation and place of residence. Marriage registrations include the name, age, place of birth, martial status, and occupation of both bride and groom, the names of their parents and witnesses, place, date of wedding and name of the marrying official. Death registrations include deceased's name, age, residence, occupation, cause of death, date and place of death, and name of the informant (typically next of kin). To order, mail the source document
code found at the end of each entry (such as : Ontario Vital Stats 1882) -- plus the name and event sought (i.e. John Doe, birth) -- and your cheque or
money order (payable to Norfolk Historical Society) to: |
